Harden's survey result
Summary
A “fun atmosphere” and “wide wine list that’s almost at cost prices” ensure that John Brinkley’s Chelsea-set haunt remains “a perfect place for an afternoon to float away”, or a “summer’s evening in the conservatory”. The food “won’t set the world alight”, but that’s never been the point. There are now spinoffs in the Wandsworth Bridge Road and on the edge of Wandsworth Common.
Summary
John Brinkley’s “stalwart of Chelsea nightlife” provides “a good service to the Eurotrash and ageing lotharios brigade”. “The food won’t set the world alight”, but it’s a “buzzy” venue, with a “great garden conservatory”.

Summary
A “good”, “well-priced” wine list and an “excellent atmosphere” are key to the enduring success of John Brinkley’s “neighbourhood stand-by” in a sidestreet near Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Despite “pretty average cooking” and “pleasant if slow service”, it “serves its Chelsea fanbase well (mostly ageing roués on the pull, and with a strong leaning to Eurotrash!)”
For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Brinkley’s Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Food was decent, but the portions were tiny for the price, but thats what you get in this neck of the woods. The service was dreadful. waitresses asking customers to pass plates and galsses down the table as they couldnt be bothered to walk round to the other side of the table. Waiter dropping one course onto the table and smashing plates - they then forgot to bring our replacement plates and the course that was dropped despite us asking several times. It was so bad it was almost comical."
