“Fresh fish and shellfish” – including “oysters to die for” from what is billed as ‘London’s longest oyster list’ – make this glamorous modern venue in Southwark a genuine rarity: a swish rooftop restaurant worth visiting for its food. Set on the 14th floor of a hip hotel, it has “great panoramas over the capital, and the large terrace is a top spot in good weather”“loved the atmosphere, views and food”.

“Fabulous views”, “delicious seafood”“it ticks every box” according to fans of this 14th-floor rooftop: part of a Southwark hotel, which sets a glam tone. Ratings have softened a little since it opened a couple of years ago, however, with mounting concern that the height of the prices is starting to match that of the venue!

“You feel like you are on holiday” at this ‘it-could-be-Manhattan’ rooftop location – a “gorgeous” 14th-floor perch which, despite the name of the hotel, is located in Southwark. Order some “really mouthwatering” seafood from the raw bar (including a wide range of oysters), sip a sundowner, and catch a few rays. There’s a lovely high-ceilinged interior for inclement weather. “Some diners are more interested in looking good for Insta than eating, but that’s all part of the entertainment!”

Summary

The 14th floor rooftop of the new Hoxton hotel – this time confusingly located in Southwark, despite the name – is home to a fish and seafood restaurant from the team behind Brooklyn’s Maison Premiere. It opened in September 2019, with a raw bar, a wide range of oysters – and ‘the fresh flavours of southern Europe’. Oh, and great views.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
