“You can’t beat Chutney’s on taste and price” – this age-old vegetarian Indian is “a firm favourite among its Drummond Street competitors” by Euston station. “The ground-floor dining room is attractive enough – the basement less so.”
“A Mecca for veggie Indian cuisine near Euston” (“especially the ridiculously cheap Sunday night and weekday lunchtime buffet”) – “for the money, this place just can’t be beaten”. “The decor upstairs is acceptable, less so the slightly scruffy downstairs”.
“Seriously good value” Keralan veggie food makes this BYO one of the stars of Euston’s ‘Little India’. “Quality remains consistent, with good spicing”, while the lunchtime and Sunday evening buffet is one of London’s top deals.
Chutneys Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Chutneys has long been by far and away my favourite restaurant on the Drummond Street vegetarian Indian strip. I’ve been going there since the early 1990s and I don’t intend to stop any time soon. Prices are keen, particularly for the reliable weekday lunchtime and Sunday evening buffet which features a wide range of both hot and cold tasty dishes for starters, mains and dessert. The à la carte menu is also extremely reasonably priced and offers a range of tasty dosas not available in the buffet. Service is efficient and the ground level dining room is pleasantly decorated, whilst the basement dining area is less attractive - the only benefit of eating here is the proximity of the basement-level loos, which are not accessible by lift so that wheelchair bound diners need to be camel-like…."
"You can't fault Chutneys on price, especially it's ridiculously cheap three course buffet available weekday and Saturday lunchtimes and Sunday evenings. I've been going here for literally decades and have introduced many happy fans to the delights of Chutneys over the years. The veggie buffet has featured a larger number of healthy salads as well as hot food over the years, whilst the a la carte vegetarian menu is also good value. Service is efficient, if not always overtly friendly (but never unfriendly) and the decor of the ground level dining room in particular has been improved over the years to be relatively contemporary - the basement dining area is less attractive. Loos are downstairs and inaccessible to wheelchair users."
