For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Bistro Aix Restaurant Diner Reviews

"We used to visit Aix on a fairly regular basis but stopped when Covid arrived. On both the two times we have been back since we have been extremely disappointed. Paid £176 for a very ordinary meal."

"We chose Aix because of my nieces very narrow tastes, and for a change she went right through the menu from onion soup, to well done steak with Dauphinois potatoes, followed by an ice cream and seemed to enjoy everything for a change. But my wife’s and my own experience was completely different! We have been clients of Aix for many years and had usually enjoyed their food; even to the extent of taking friends for a night-out there. But Tuesday was abysmal! I ordered their fish soup which I had always had in the past when I saw it on their menu, because it truly was as good as I could make it myself after hours slaving in the kitchen! But on Tuesday it truly tasted as if it came out of a packet without any of the richness which comes from boiling fish-heads and skeletons in a pressure cooker and sieving the results, etc. etc.. Then I ordered the cassoulet my favourite French Bistrot dish of all time. But what was served up was nothing like! It appeared to have been rustled up in the time it took for us to eat the first course, white beans out of a tin, no stock at all!, some few pieces of Saucisson Sec with a very small and very limp confit duck leg. It was truly awful and we won’t be near the place ever again!"
