On the Clerkenwell site previously occupied by Anna Hansen's influential The Modern Pantry, this venture, which opened in late May 2022, is self-described as an "easy dining bistro". Chef Mike Shaw has worked at Trinity in Clapham and Zibibbo in New Zealand.

"Our first family dinner at the Compton and everybody was happy with the experience. Interesting range of starters. The main courses were good but not exciting and the choice rather limited. Delicious desserts. The service both friendly and efficient. Very nice setting in St John's Square, but the ambience indoors unexceptional and even before the place was full it was very noisy. "
