Harden's survey result
Summary
Chef Tom Hunter’s relaxed modern British dining room and pub “always delivers”; the carnivorous menu is split between small and bigger plates which are “delicious, so flavoursome and always on point – as is the ambience” (boosted by the buzz of diners taking advantage of the on-site cinema).
Summary
“You can feel the influence of Fergus Henderson” on Tom Hunter’s cuisine at this cavernous and carnivorous venue – also home to a small cinema – serving up “very tasty and interesting pub food and good real ales to go with it”. “The ambience is determinedly dressed down, which appeals to its clientele”, but it’s “far better than its unassuming façade suggests”.

Summary
This sprawling bar and dining venue – a favourite of critic Marina O’Loughlin, apparently – serves “exceptional food” from a “varied specials menu”, including “home-cured bacon and black pudding” from the on-site charcuterie curing room. It also has its own small cinema, where you might eat ramen while watching ‘Tampopo’!
For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Reliance Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Turned up on spec on a Saturday lunchtime and had an excellent selection of the bar snacks plus a fish soup from the specials. Everything very reasonably priced for amazing quality. The fennel salami was delicious and the anchovies were perhaps the meatiest I've ever had. Great selection of larger portions too - would be a good option at any time of day"
