This “stylish and serious”, coffee-shop operation with two sites in Fitzrovia is “still one of the best independents in London”, 10 years after pioneering modern Antipodean-style coffee culture in the UK. They serve “brilliant coffee” (naturally), “a nice range of pastries” and “excellent sandwiches”, and have a “good vibe at both locations”. “Only the slightly monastic seating lets things down” – and there’s “not enough” of it!

“Some of the best coffee shops anywhere!” – this Aussie/Kiwi-owned duo are “fabulous independents” ranking in London’s very top tier, with their “delicious sarnies and salads” and addictive coffees from a regularly changing selection of suppliers. “Great vibe at both locations” too.

“Consistently incredible coffee” (and “superb salads and sarnies” too) give this incredibly “welcoming” Aussie/Kiwi-owned duo a serious claim to being “London’s top independent coffee houses”. “Both branches are fabulous; the Eastcastle one is a bit more relaxed”.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
