This “fabulous” little restaurant showcases young former MasterChef finalist Marcus Wilcox’s “exquisite” modern British cooking. “There are few covers, but that helps make it so special”.

MasterChef finalist Marcus Wilcox, who took up the baton here in May 2015, seems to be an able replacement for former owners Russell & Elena Brown at this tiny 16-seat dining room, turning out “well-crafted” and “tasty” British food that’s “unlike anything else in Dorset”.

Encouraging feedback on this town-centre stalwart, which was taken over by MasterChef finalist Marcus Wilcox in May 2015, and where he‘s maintaining its gastro reputation with “fresh and inventive modern British food”. If there’s a caveat, it’s that the tiny (16-cover) room can seem “too intimate”.

"A real gem in an area without much serious cooking: excellent set menus, impressive wine list, charming personal service. A young chef and front of house partnership who deserve to do well. Worth a detour. "
