The owners of this Kentish seaside town newcomer (serving rustic, classic French fare from ever-changing blackboards) run Le Pinardier, a wine shop and bar, also in Deal.
Harden's survey result
This “unpretentious neighbourhood bistro” features “perfectly judged cooking, from a Sportsman alumnus chef” (David Gadd) using “locally sourced ingredients including superb fish”. There’s an “extensive list of classics as well as organic, biodynamic and natural wines”; owners Benoit and Sarah (respectively the Frog and the Scot) also run Le Pinardier wine bar a few doors away.
“Already a much-loved Deal institution”, despite its relative youth – this “charming, contemporary” pub turns out “perfectly cooked French-influenced dishes which let the quality of the ingredients (“fish direct from the boats on the beach”, say) shine through”. The owners also run wine bar Le Pinadier, up the road.
