Harden's survey result
A “unique theatrical atmosphere” helps distinguish this long-established local destination – founded in 1984 and given an overhaul in autumn 2018. ‘Dinner at 8’ is the main event: a five-course (seven at weekends) blow-out that makes for quite an occasion (with a more conventional format for lunch and afternoon tea). Rated on limited feedback this year.
With its “unique ‘Dinner at 8’ format” – this stalwart thirty-year-old venture inspires adoration from fans for “guaranteed excellence from a menu that’s constantly refreshed, contemporary and imaginative”. It provoked a couple of disappointments this year, however, in part due to “overly ambitious cuisine (with too many components in most dishes”).
It’s “astonishing how they maintain service and quality year after year” at this family-run stalwart, of nearly three decades’ standing; “some slightly more adventurous items keep the menu contemporary without sacrificing their core strengths” – and “there is still nothing like Pecks’ (“theatrical” 7-course) ‘Dinner at 8’”.
“Still going strong” – an “unwavering” family-run fixture, whose “high standard of food” help make it, for fans, “the essential ‘go-to’ place for any special occasion”, as does its “distinctive 5-course or 7-course ‘Dinner at 8’” format.
