“Gordon Jones is expert in the flavours he can coax out of sometimes-modest ingredients” and his ‘surprise’, no-choice tasting menu of “well-coordinated and beautifully presented” dishes makes his “small but sweet” venue (in a somewhat “ordinary location”, just outside the town centre) into “a foodie’s temple of joy!”. “Quirky but worth a detour”.
“Fun and full of surprises” – Gordon Jones’s “quirky” operation on the edge of town provides a “top experience – up with the best”. “You have no idea what’s coming” as there’s no menu or choice; instead, Jones decides what to cook each day, conjuring up “amazing food and drink with interesting conversation”. “The absolute highlight was snails and test tubes – they serve snails along with test tubes filled with different sauces to go with them...”.
Don’t expect a menu (“the chef decides what to cook when he sees what his suppliers deliver in the morning”) but do expect a “great experience” at this small and unusual spot with an open kitchen, on the outskirts of town, benefitting from “lots of natural light”, and notably creative multi-course tasting menus.
An “unmissable treat” on the outskirts of town (south of the city-centre) – this “highly innovative” venture delivers a “one-menu surprise for the whole room”. Some feel that “the decor is a bit strange” (“basic and small”), but “you go for the fantastic creations of the clever Gordon Jones, who’s always there, beavering away in the open kitchen”.
