Our reviews are based on an annual survey of ordinary diners which runs in Spring each year. But this establishment has not yet gathered enough feedback for our editors to write it up.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Beckford Canteen Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Have loved it here in the past but our meal last night was really not up to scratch. For one the menu hasn't changed a great deal since opening and reallt struggled to find anything I wanted that was different. The waitress happily told us about the turbot special which sounded great, by the time she came to take our orders they had all sold out. This is the second time this has happened to us, they need to accomodate more special orders. Had the plaice with harissa butter and was pretty tasteless to be honest. Want to like it here but it disappoited this time around."

"A good new restaurant in Bath at the lovely old greenhouse down from the Beckford wine bar and small plates stablishment. This is more of a 'three course' place. The decor is very nicely done lots of bottle greens. Service is efficient if a little too brusque, but it is early days. The food is very good indeed, a small menu with a few specials and perfectly executed. The fried pommes anna are to die for. good wine list too."
