Summary
“A real winner” – “fresh fish” benefit from “careful treatment” and customers from “smiling staff” at Richard Sim’s appealing seafood bistro in “a beautiful location in the shadows of Bamburgh Castle”.
Summary
In the shadow of Bamburgh Castle, this seaside-themed two-year-old is by all accounts “a real gem and great addition to the area” (not least as it’s “an area where good food is rare”); the fish and seafood is “very reliable” and servings happily “large”, unlike the venue itself.
For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Potted Lobster Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Great find - delicious seafood including lobster"

"good food in recently refurbished restaurant. Lobster we had was a little small but tasty"

"Very fresh fish in every dish we ate. Starter portions were substantial and would have sufficed for a light lunch on their own. Main course of Turbot lived up to all expectation. Crisp batter and delicious turbot. Dover sole with prawns and caper was excellent. Staff were very friendly and efficient. About to close for refurbishment which should put up the ambience score."

"Fabulous fish restaurant in a beautiful Northumbrian seaside village which had the most iconic castle......what more could you want? Daily specials are worth considering and the fish and chips are pretty damned good!"
