“Delightful, fresh and delicious food served by friendly staff” make this “great local restaurant” an “exceptional find”. Chef Lee and foh Liz Parsons met working at Claridge’s and had a successful career in Vancouver before returning to open under their own name in 2015. “The fish is especially good, with delicate seasoning”, and there’s a “great-value set lunch”.

“This really is a little gem” – Lee & Liz Parsons's “dependably good” and “well-priced” restaurant continues to win nothing but praise for its “beautiful freshly cooked food and great daily specials”, and “service is exceptional” too. “Our go-to place when in the area.”

“Deservedly popular, local chef-run place in the middle of town” – a simply but effectively decorated operation run by Lee & Liz Parsons, which won very consistently high ratings all-round last year for its “thoughtful but relaxed service” and “wonderful” cooking that “makes brilliant use of local produce” to create “fantastic flavours”: “the bread alone tells you the place knows its stuff!” A meal comes “at a realistic price” too.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
