A pioneer of Spanish food and wine in Wales since 2001, Paul Grimwood & Shumana Palit’s flagship restaurant has been replaced by a 14-seat bar serving deli-style plates to make way for a ‘vinoteca’, Not all regulars are wild about the change (“the reduction in size has not improved it at all” for diners), but in fairness there is now the “opportunity to roam around the big store of Spanish wines”. The couple have a second branch in Narberth and the Curado tapas bar in Cardiff.

“Genuine Spanish food” and a “long list of great Spanish wines” are available at this restaurant/bar that developed out of a deli founded in 2001 by Paul Grimwood & Shumana Palit, moved into wholesaling, and during the pandemic found a new focus on wine. They have a second branch in Narberth, and two tapas bars in Cardiff (Curado and Vermut).

“A wonderful selection of tapas and lovely well-priced wines” has built a solid reputation over two decades for this stalwart Spanish deli/bar/wine merchant. “The only drawback is that the seating area has shrunk to a few high-stools, with all food eaten on a counter” nowadays.

A South Wales pioneer of modern Spanish cuisine for more than 20 years, this deli/café-bar/wine merchant has tweaked its format since lockdown, but maintains consistent high ratings for its “really good food”. It has a spinoff restaurant in Narberth and a city-centre pintxos bar in Cardiff.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
