Harden's survey result
Summary
This “great little gastropub, specialising in small plates” dates from 1735 (fka The King’s Head) and was rebooted five years ago by Brewmish, who have also revived the nearby Duke of Marlborough. The menu has “some really interesting options, all done well” and notwithstanding the odd gripe, reports credit this as “one of the better restaurants in Woodstock and the traditional Sunday lunch is definitely superior”.
Summary
After two years lying idle, this venture (FKA The King’s Head) was acquired by the Oxfordshire-based Brewmish Pub Company, whose MO is re-launching local boozers ‘with a twist’ – including the nearby Duke of Marlborough. Following a refurb and reinvention as a wine bar and small-plates venue, the three-year-old offers “something a bit different and very tasty”, with a superior Sunday lunch – vegetarian Beef Wellington, pork belly and Cotswold leg of lamb – part of the line-up.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
