“Just about the best lobster and fries I’ve ever had – for under £20!” – the appeal of this good-value spot “well hidden” by Whitstable harbour, with outdoor tables overlooking the sea. They excel by serving line-caught fish and local shellfish “just kept simple”. Just one quibble this year: “why no puddings?”. Sister venue the Oyster Shed is nearby.

“Nothing fancy, just wonderfully fresh seafood cooked perfectly” is a typical endorsement of this “terrific value” beachside haunt “tucked away behind the harbour” in foodie Whitstable. “Excellent lobster and line-caught fish, simply served” along with “plateau de fruits de mer” lead the menu, best enjoyed at an outside table.

There’s “a great seaside experience” to be had at this “fun” joint, “right on the beach”, and with ample outdoor tables to maximise the view; it “can get busy at peak times but it’s worth the effort” for the “good range of reasonably priced seafood” (shellfish platters, fish ’n’ chips and the headline crustacean – “yum”).

“Share a native lobster when in stock”, “fantastic line-caught fish”, or “an amazing value plateau of fruits de mer” – all “served right on the sea front” (there’s “a great view”) – at this descriptively named outfit.
