Andrew Pern (of The Star Inn at Harome) fulfils his wish of having a restaurant in his hometown Whitby. The harbour-side venture features Catch-of-the-Day fish specials and game from the North Yorkshire Moors.

“I love this place!” – “it used to be the tourist information centre until local lad Andrew Pern tastefully converted the harbourside building into a destination restaurant”, which “manages to walk the line between modern and traditional” with “wonderful food” including a “generous seafood platter”. Pern made his name at The Star at Harome, the famous thatched pub which burnt to the ground in 2021 and rose from the ashes late last year. Amidst solidly good ratings this year, though, there is one recurrent gripe – it’s pricey. BREAKING NEWS: In early November 2022 it was announced that the establishment is to close as of November 12 2022.
