26 August 2020: TripAdvisor says the hotel has updated that it will be open again at the end of September.
18 August 2020: The same reader updates: "American Express has refunded the deposit to us, so we are all right, but I have just looked again at Trip Advisor, and there are several more similar stories. To add insult to injury: this morning I received an email (I assume automated) [confirming the booking]".
23 July 2020: A long-term reader of the guide reports as follows: "Sharrow Bay has decided not to open when it said it would, and is refusing to refund deposits to people who booked when it said it would be open. It has just happened to me, and when I looked at Trip Advisor, I saw 2 similar complaints." There is also a complaint in a similar vein on Instagram. Caution may be in order when booking here.
