Breaking news

January 1, 2024:

IMPORTANT NOTICE

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to share some important news with our Tsaretta Spice community. After careful consideration, we have decided to recalibrate the business strategy for our Twickenham location and will not be operating a normal day-to-day restaurant service from January 2024 onwards for the foreseeable future. However, we will continue to cater as previously for all Rugby Days and special occasions, as well as external events such as weddings and birthdays.

Former Tamarind and Dishoom chef Yousuf Mohammed has “a different take on traditional Indian cuisine, with tapas-style dishes and cocktails making it a great dining experience”. Fans acclaim it as “my type of Indian”, with a focus on “quality not quantity”. Look out for pre- and post-match specials when England or Harlequins are in action at nearby Twickenham or the Stoop.

“Excellent and innovative tapas-style Indian food” from former Tamarind and Dishoom chef Yousuf Mohammed is served in a “nice location on popular, cobbled Church Street with a pleasant outdoor dining courtyard for the warmer months” (and specials laid on for big rugby days at nearby Twickers stadium). One bugbear this year though – a couple of incidents of “diabolical service” (in terms of speed or misplaced dishes).

“Oh wow – the tapas menu really works” at this high-end Indian two-year-old (“with outdoor tables by a pedestrianised street”), where chef Yousuf Mohammed (whose CV includes stints at Dishoom and Tamarind) turns out “delicious dishes like Punjabi fish fingers and scotch eggs with spiced lamb wrapped around quail eggs”. The original Tsaretta Spice launched in winter sports paradise Méribel, France, while this Twickenham spin-off benefits from a “lovely” courtyard setting in warmer months.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
