“No longer hidden” owing to its rave reviews (not least for oversubscribed ‘feast nights’), “but still great value after a coastal walk” – this “gem” of a shack on the Roseland Peninsula gets a “five for ambience because of that view”. Add in “genuinely delicious, hearty food” (pasties, clotted-cream ice-cream etc) and “what’s not to like?”. (Open in British Summer Time months only, plus a week at Christmas.)

Much-loved beach shack on a National Trust coastal path on the Roseland Peninsula; from Cornish pasties to clotted cream ice-cream, it’s all brilliant, but their ‘feast nights’ (diners bring plates and booze and, well, feast under the stars) are a legend, selling out in minutes.

“A remarkable place” – the “beautiful beach location with outdoor seating is special enough, but it is the food and the care” taken with it that’s “outstanding” at this “lovely little open-air café” (essentially a shed with alfresco seating) “overlooking the sea and Southwest Coast Path”, where “the chef creates a monthly changing menu of delicious and seasonal ingredients.” Open daily for lunch, “as well as (thrice monthly) pop-up nights with a theme or guest chef”.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
