“More of a bistro/wine bar, but with a reasonably varied and interesting menu” – this two-floor operation has “modern décor” contrasting with its historic location near the RSC, and wins consistent praise, “particularly the set menu which is very good value”. “Kind staff” help make it “a real local favourite”.

“The limited but cracking value pre-theatre menu” is a particular feature at this two-floor operation in an historic building not far from the RSC. It’s open from breakfast onwards, serving all day, seven days a week.

Something of a local lynchpin (for example, they sponsor the local food festival) – this well-run, two-floor operation is a stone’s throw from the RSC, and offers a versatile all-day menu from breakfast onwards. For a steak meal in particular, it’s one of the better options in town.

“One of the better pre-theatre places in Stratford” – this smart, two-floor, former clothes shop is barely a three-minute walk from the RSC. Even a reporter who felt the food was “nothing special” says “everything turned out well for a pleasant evening”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
