Harden's survey result
Summary
“Nicely fitting into a number of small rooms giving an intimate feel to the restaurant”, this two-floor venue is one of the town’s more popular pre-theatre options. “There is a good bustle without any feeling of anxiety on a busy early evening (pre-theatre), and front of house keeps things ticking over!”. “The limited menu is well cooked”, “attractively presented, with favourite dishes a few novelties too”.
Summary
“One of the old favourites in Stratford”, this “always reliable” two-floor establishment was previously home to a women’s clothes shop, but nowadays it makes a “great place for a pre-theatre meal (other reasons for eating there also work)” thanks to its “nice environment” and “good menu choices, including some lovely vegetarian options”.
Summary
“More of a bistro/wine bar, but with a reasonably varied and interesting menu” – this two-floor operation has “modern décor” contrasting with its historic location near the RSC, and wins consistent praise, “particularly the set menu which is very good value”. “Kind staff” help make it “a real local favourite”.
Summary
“The limited but cracking value pre-theatre menu” is a particular feature at this two-floor operation in an historic building not far from the RSC. It’s open from breakfast onwards, serving all day, seven days a week.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
