In the “epicentre of restaurants for the hungry tourist or theatregoer”, this ex-clothes shop “deserves your serious consideration”, say fans. There were also reports of “average” or “poor value” food this year, but those “habitually choosing the pre-theatre set menu before a visit to the RSC” seem to find it “well cooked and attractively presented”.

On two floors of a former city-centre clothes shop, this “very popular” five-year-old has an “ambience that varies depending on the room” and wins nothing but praise for its “lovely and reasonably priced food” from a large and versatile menu incorporating sharing plates and char-grilled steaks.

Owner's description

Based in the heart of historic Stratford-upon-Avon, Loxleys is an independent, family-run restaurant serving modern British cuisine seven days a week. Just a stone’s throw from Stratford’s famous theatres and tourist attractions, the restaurant is set across two floors of an historic building on Sheep Street with a series of recently-refurbished, stylish rooms perfect for any occasion from an intimate meal to a group celebration.

At Loxleys we pride ourselves on serving a range of dishes boasting classic flavour combinations, expertly prepared by our chefs from locally-sourced, top quality ingredients. We serve breakfasts from 9:30am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as lunch and dinner seven days a week. Loxleys offers an exciting A La Carte Menu and daily-changing specials. From steak to seafood, we have something for everyone including vegan options, and our kitchen can cater for special dietary requirements if necessary including gluten-free and dairy-free menus. We have an extensive wine list as well as cocktails and have a bar area for pre and post-dinner drinks where you can choose from a varied selection of hand-picked Champagnes, cocktails, wines, spirits and draught ale.

Loxleys has a range of offers, from lunchtime set price and ‘posh’ sandwich options, a pre-theatre set price menu, steak night and fizz night, as well as serving a popular Sunday roast option every weekend. A key player in the community, Loxleys sponsors the Stratford Town Centre Food Festival as well as backing local charities, and was a finalist in the Best Restaurant category in the Muddy Stilettos Warwickshire Awards 2019.
