Summary

Neil and Zoe Kedward of the Seren Collection ventured into North Wales in 2022 with the purchase of this “nice old hall and grounds” set at the foot of Cadair Idris, with views of the Mawddach estuary and Eryri (Snowdon to old timers), which unveiled a further upgrade in April 2025 in collaboration with well-known designer Nicola Harding (adding new rooms and the ‘Mynydd Bar’, the latter complete with mahogany panelling a grand fireplace, and quite a substantial menu). A London-based reviewer reported a “great all-round Sunday lunch, with very good service” here, but other feedback is too limited for a full review of the Afon restaurant under chef Dan Andree – reports please!

Summary

Promising feedback on the dining room (with conservatory) of this very attractive, Snowdonian Victorian hotel, which was purchased by the Seren Collection in mid-2022. Not enough reports for a rating as yet, but praise for “a lovely Sunday lunch and excellent value too, with generous portions and beautiful preparation”.

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
