From the ex-chef of the Crown at Whitebrook, this two-year-old restaurant-with-rooms gains praise for its “exceptional quality” cuisine, in particular “great seafood”. Niggles remain that “the ambience doesn’t quite match the food”, but others say it’s improved since opening. “The (waterside) views are spectacular too (although the layout of the restaurant doesn’t maximise that benefit).”

"Crab crumpet as an amuse bouche shows this is a very serious restaurant. The hit of the signature dish of pea and serrano ham ravioli sets the bar high but the tasting menu maintains a high standard: the rhubarb and ginger with white chocolate hits the top note, too. It's a bit much to charge an extra £12 for a cheese course which, when presented, lets down the chef's achievements: it's a bit of gilt off the gingerbread. Service is very much not special. The staff are polite but lack enthusiasm"
