Summary
“What a gorgeous place” – chef Hywell Griffith showcases his “just right, rather than over-processed” cuisine in a rugged ex-coalhouse with a “spectacular seafront setting” – “literally on the beach, with fabulous views over Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsula”. Even when it’s not sunny, “the cosy atmosphere looking out to grey skies and moody seas is almost as spectacular”. While most of the ingredients are local, “it’s not all fish by any means – but the fish dishes are exceptional”.
Summary
“A more stunning setting would be hard to find” – a vaulted dining room overlooking the sandy stretch of Oxwich Bay with “views that will take your breath away” – and chef Hywell Griffith's à la carte and tasting menus are “worthy of their Michelin star” (as of 2019), “with wonderful local produce and exceptional local seafood” a feature.
Summary
For “a wonderful meal in a fantastic setting”, it’s worth a trip to this four-year-old venture: a stylish, airy dining room with vaulted ceiling, looking right onto the sand beach of Oxwich Bay. Chef Hywell Griffith and his team are on view in the open kitchen and offer a choice of à la carte and tasting menus (the latter five courses for £50 or eight for £80). In October 2019, it became one of six restaurants now blessed by Michelin in Wales. Top Tip – “it’s that rarest of destinations with wonderful cuisine that also offers an excellent kids’ menu and is a treat for that alone. Good for the foodie parent on holiday – no more pizza!”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Beach House Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Our group went for the six course tasting menu with ‘curious’ wine flight and it was faultless. Fabulous fare including crab mouse, lobster dumpling and tail, tandoori cod, salt marsh lamb - expertly paired with some relatively unknown grape types/styles such as Austrian Zweigelt offering depth without heaviness. Particular mention to Jess, the young sommelier, who effortlessly talked us through the wines and why they worked with the various courses. "

"What a gorgeous place. Super-friendly, warm ambiance and service. The eight-course tasting menu was just right. Real good rather than over-processed. The starters and the puddings were the star. Lovely sommelier too"
