For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Church Inn Restaurant Diner Reviews

"A very busy gastro-pub which always serves up good, fresh and well-presented dishes, from traditional fattening to seasonal specials e.g. tender slow roasted blade of beef. "

"great mackerel starter with interesting beetroot apple and onion to accompany. blue cheese rissoto not right in texture - a bit too gluey. and while delicious when blue cheese lumps hit wasn't uniformly so .. roast beef was perfect. cooked rare (as I ordered) with perfectly judged vegetables and potatoes. Yorkshire pud a bit over done. jus delicious. haddock and chips as good as it is always there. burger usually excellent, tasted great but was a bit over cooked. service slow. nice to have leisure and be unrushed, but it is always a wait. probably needs a bit more pace in the room and kitchen. long waits between courses. chocolate delice was very good, but I didn't understand what the vanilla flavoured rubbery base was supposed to be.. strange. usually their deserts are technical and brilliantly well flavoured. ambiance is good. it's relaxed. friendly. chatty, without ever being crowded and too noisy. on balance it is exactly what you'd want from a good quality pub serving food that is a cut above."
