Despite some teething problems after chef Eddy Seys’ 2017 arrival, all is now well at this “sophisticated” hotel restaurant “brightening up the almost derelict” high street, and with “a grandstand view of the lovely beach and sunset”; readers will be happy to know that the lunch menu is “now reinstated”.

“With an amazing view of the sea and magnificent sunset”, this boutique hotel houses “the nicest place in town with the freshest fish” – plus other “inventive”, locally sourced fare. One reviewer “never thought to find such a great restaurant here”, but it’s just “symbolic of Margate’s continuing renaissance!”

For 29 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.

Owner's description

The airy and contemporary Bay Restaurant enjoys superb views over the beach, and the large west-facing terrace offers the option of al fresco dining when the weather is kind! The main entrance is located at 42 High Street, and we are open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner for both residents and non-residents alike. Our chef, Ryan Tasker, offers a modern European menu inspired by both local and seasonal produce. Along with beautifully presented dishes and service that is attentive, but not intrusive, your experience will be one to remember.

Our Chef

Our head chef Eddy Seys born in Lille, France started his career at the prestigious Catering College Touquet in France before beginning his professional career in the Grand Hotel Dinard in Brittany, specialising in traditional seafood.

After spending 15 years as a Chef in the French Navy, Eddy has travelled the world working in restaurants in Ukraine, Abu Dhabi, Russia and the Disney Cruise Line in the U.S.A. By spending time and learning about many different cultures and environments he believes this has contributed to the passion and knowledge of his cooking.

Eddy has only recently joined the team being with us for just a few months, but we are very excited by his creative ideas and skills already being bought to the table at Bay Restaurant.
