"Quite exceptional visit Booked for Sunday lunch in this characterful venue. It’s a lovely building with lots of different sized rooms. We ordered our food from a reasonable sized menu. Starter was a really interesting well flavoured octopus with Pork quite an unusual combination, but very tasty. Octopus isn’t an easy food to cook perfectly but this really was. The sauce had a gentle and delicious kick to it. My partners main was a quite unusual lamb roast with shredded lamb well flavoured. Mine was roast beef with trimmings. I have to confess to being very impressed with the selection of vegetables (kudos for noticing my request for no cooked cheese) I had my own cauliflower without cheese. Carrots were unusually but interesting. Potato well cooked and crunchy, as I like them. Perfect Yorkshire too. If I was to offer any criticism, beef perfectly medium rare but not as flavoursome as I have experienced. I am a total lemon posset fanatic and the one I had was almost perfect, I just like mine to be quite tart and not sweet but about 95% there. Very friendly efficient service, a little repeated questions about drinks but otherwise very good. Toilets clean and spacious if a little utilitarian. Was it worth the drive? Oh yes a great meal very good staff left full and happy! Thank you all "
