Harden's says

Chef Harriet Mansell (a recent Great British Menu contestant) has run a series of successful pop-ups, but has now made her restaurant a permanent fixture in Lyme Regis, in a former pottery workshop; the set tasting menu costs £60 (wine pairing available for £45) and will change every six weeks.

“Without a doubt the best meal and experience for many years”… but Harriet Mansell had to call time on her “intimate” venture in September 2023 as the lease ran out. We received “outstanding” reports on her tasting menus and “excellent drinks pairs, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic” here, so have maintained a holding entry, as she is looking for a new site nearby and continuing to operate out of her Lilac wine cellar.

“We’ve dined in numerous Michelin-starred restaurants through the last year but none have come close to this” – chef Harriet Mansell’s “fabulous” debut (following a series of successful pop-ups), which has earned a unanimous string of accolades. There’s “a real sense of ownership here. The tasting menu (which seems to depend partly on what has been foraged that day) is creative and exceptionally good. The accompanying wine flight is well chosen (partly English) and balanced, staff informative and helpful and the owner/chef very chatty and open. A superb evening”. The sister wine cellar Lilac nearby is run with the same ethos, serving snacks and casual meals.

By early reports it's “utterly delightful”, with “imaginative food” and “genuine hospitality – deserves to do well!”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
