Occupying a once derelict Grade II-listed building by Holborn station (a former HQ of the Baptist Church), this new 39-bedroom luxury hotel opened in mid-summer 2018 and also boasts a mezzanine restaurant & bar (Baptist Bar); and cafe (Café Oscar). The main restaurant, overseen by former Angler chef Tony Fleming, aims for ‘a contemporary approach to the traditional grill room’.
The Baptist Grill, L’Oscar Hotel Restaurant Diner Reviews
"I used to go to Baptist Council meetings in the building so was intrigued to see how it had worked out. It has been well done. I also worried from some of the hotel descriptions that it would be a bit up itself. In fact it was better then expected. The food was very good indeed, not too fussy and full of flavour. service was OK, could do without the waiters@ psychedelic jackets. And a very good wine list with an excellent Montlouis, which you don't see often."
