“They’ve become a bit boring and rote over the years”, but these popular, “cheap ’n’ cheerful” Turkish cafés are very affordably priced, and even those who see them as “workaday”, can feel they still “have a place as a reasonable-enough option” – especially in a big group, or with the kids – and they also offer “lots of choice for vegetarians”. Venues are “well-located for combining with cultural visits” – especially on the South Bank, where Tas originated over 20 years ago on The Cut, opposite the Young Vic Theatre. There’s also a popular branch, Tas Pide (see also), next door to Shakespeare’s Globe.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
