“The service is passable and the ambience is poor” at this group in Chinatown and Bayswater – “but you only go for one thing: the barbecued/roast meat”, especially the “famous” and “perfect Cantonese roast duck and the char siu pork”. They might be “a bit too authentic these days”, but they’re still “hard to beat for Chinese food”.

“It’s a bit of a dive” with “charmless” service (“you have to queue even if you’ve booked”) but everyone raves about the “divine” duck – “the best in London” – and other “brilliant barbecued meats and roast pork” at these clattery canteens in Chinatown and Bayswater.

“Succulent and not too fatty” – the “excellent roast duck” lining the window of these “dingy”, “shabby”, “shouty” canteens in Chinatown and Bayswater is some “the tastiest in town”. There are “absolutely no frills” and “rude service is part of the traditional charm” but even so you’ll “leave with a smile on your face”. Top Menu Tip – the crispy pork belly here also rates mention.

“The famous roast duck may not be the world’s best but it’s extremely good” (as is the “addictive crispy pork belly”) at these Chinese “classics”, in Bayswater and Chinatown. “You don’t go for the surroundings, and certainly not for the service!”
