Harden's says
Tim Jefferies, who runs the photography gallery Hamiltons, and his business partner, Sri Lankan born Larry Jayasekara - head chef at Pétrus until 2018 - are opening this high-end, four-floor spot in Mayfair in October 2023.
Harden's survey result
Summary
Larry Jayasekara “is a great host at the chef’s counter”, a 7-seater space which is to be found adjoining the first-floor kitchen of this four storey townhouse, tucked away off Berkeley Square. He is backed in the project by Tim Jefferies who runs Hamiltons, the nearby photography gallery in nearby Carlos Place. The cuisine layers traditional European gastronomy from Larry’s work in numerous top kitchens with ideas from his Sri Lankan background to contribute to an “exceptional all-round” experience, be it from the tasting menu (£169 per person) or the three-course, à la carte selection (£145 per person). Ratings, though, are limited by those who say that even though a meal here is “very good all-round”, it can still feel overpriced.
Summary
Tim Jefferies, who runs the photography gallery Hamiltons, and his business partner, Sri Lankan-born Larry Jayasekara – head chef at Pétrus until 2018 – opened this art-filled Mayfair passion project in March 2024. Money has been little object in the expense-be-damned fit-out of four floors, which incorporate a ground-level dining room (with 28 covers); seven-seat chef’s table adjoining a huge kitchen; a 14-seat event space; and space to store over 1,500 wines on site (which also incorporates two adjoining buildings). Larry’s £145 menu is – huge round of applause – à la carte, not tasting-based, and shows the originality one might hope for from pre-launch research which incorporated travel to 28 countries! The venture opened too late for survey feedback, but reviewers in the press and online have raved. The best restaurants are not run for money, and there’s no sign that profit is the main motive here. Jefferies has signed a 20-year lease: this looks set to be a mainstay of Mayfair dining in the years to come.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Cocochine Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Why the tyre men have not yet awarded this place a star is a mystery! The Cocochine continues the welcome current trend of ingredient-led cooking, with quality produce coming from the owners' own farm and private island as well as some exceptional items from further afield. Pleasant, informal service and a good value wine pairing featuring some surprisingly big hitters makes this now one of the best Mayfair options. And the decor is a touch Mayfair indeed, but thankfully doesn't quite overdo it. "
