Bustling “no-frills” Japanese canteens that serve “great value” noodles and sushi at an efficient pace. The 20-year-old Soho original has now been joined by branches in the City, Balham and most recently Kennington (which is a little more spacious).
“Fast, efficient, delicious and great value” – what more could you want from a Japanese canteen? The Soho original, now in its 20th year, is “always packed”. These days there are also branches in the City and Balham.
“Service is brusque and the venues fairly basic”, but these “canteen-style” eateries (the originals in Soho are best-known) still deliver a “simple formula of good Japanese nosh and excellent value” (mostly “cheap and cheerful noodle soups and sushi”).
Mr Taro’s “busy”, “no-frills Japanese” canteens are among the “few really cheap eateries still remaining in Soho” – “food arrives quickly so it’s ideal for a fast lunch or snack”. “You may have to share a large table with others”.
