Savini closed in early July 2018, and is due to re-open under the name Granaria Cafe by the end of the month.
Harden's survey result
Too often branded “a disappointment… and an expensive disappointment at that” – this incredible, gilded neo-Byzantine chamber on Piccadilly Circus has been through a succession of owners, of which this year-old Milanese régime is the latest. By-and-large ignored by Londoners nowadays, such feedback as there is talks of “bland food, poorly presented”.
“Another dud” – this “extraordinary neo-Byzantine dining room” (“possibly the most jaw-dropping space in the West End”) – is so “disappointing when one considers just how great it could be.” With the previous incumbent going into administration, this new Milanese régime is not only “eyewateringly expensive” but too often provides “shocking food and inattentive service”.
Savini at Criterion Restaurant Diner Reviews
"The food is an improvement over the other restaurants that have been in this elegant place. Unfortunately, the price is too high for the good but not outstanding food. A pleasant place but not necessarily one to which we might return."
