The “small plates of big Korean taste bombs never disappoint” in this basement dining room (with a ground-level bar) off Carnaby Street, where traditional cuisine meets contemporary K-pop youth culture. Top Menu Tip – “prawn tacos and spicy cauliflower”.

“You can’t go wrong” at this modern take on Korean cuisine off Carnaby Street. “The décor is quirky and the interior a little dark, but the food is the star” (especially since the departure of high-profile founder – Korean-American TV chef Judy Joo): and it’s “tremendous value for money in Soho”.

“Everything is delicious, from small snack plates to mains” at this modern Korean bar and basement off Carnaby Street. The classics are all there, from bibimbap and bulgogi to double-fried chicken, but there “always seems to be something pleasantly surprising on the menu” – and “great cocktails too!”. The outfit has clearly survived the 2019 departure of its high-profile founder, the Korean-American TV chef Judy Joo, without missing a beat. She now fronts the Seoul Bird fried-chicken outlets in Westfield Shepherd’s Bush and Canary Wharf.

This “modern Korean” basement off Carnaby Street does a great line in “delicious but different food” served in “cool surroundings”: it “delivers on the staples – fried chicken, dumplings, etc – while more unusual modern interpretations also hit the target”, such as “terrific tofu sliders”. In June 2019, Korean-American TV chef Judy Joo severed her ties with the venture, but we’ve maintained the rating for the time being.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
