“A terrific find” on the edge of Chinatown, where the owner Rosa’s family recipes have – for over 20 years now – provided an “authentic” taste of Malay-Chinese cooking, “with some fiery dishes that are all magnificently spicy and well made”. “Ask the staff what they recommend and some surprises will end up on your plate!”

“Please don’t dress up to dine in this cheap little no-frills café” on the edge of Chinatown, but prepare to eat some “truly fantastic, highly spiced Malaysian food”“the beef rendang is absolutely the best”, and “the laksa lives up to expectations”.

“Cheap ’n’ cheerful” Malaysian-Chinese diner on the edge of Chinatown that’s built a strong fan-base over 25 years for its “excellent food that does not break the bank”, combining classic regional dishes with more unusual family recipes. Top Tip – “exceptional Singapore laksa”.

It’s “nothing special to look at, down an alleyway” in Chinatown, but “you must go here for the fantastic Malaysian food” – including “the best Singapore laksa ever”. This family-run diner was established in 1998, serving classic Malaysian-Chinese dishes including nasi goreng and beef rendang. (Its former sibling in Westbourne Grove became a Japanese izakaya before closing down during the pandemic.)

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
