Harden's survey result
Summary
“They know what they are doing” at this comfortable hotel brasserie, well-located with a covered terrace on Marylebone Lane. Even its harshest critic – who finds the menu “pretty standard if uninteresting” – says that it suits “a functional business lunch”. But most reports are more upbeat – “there’s nothing to ‘frighten the horses’ but what they do, they do well. A place to come and please everyone and be able to have a proper conversation. Hooray!”
Summary
This “well-run spot” with outdoor seating attached to a hotel on Marylebone Lane makes a “very useful venue for lunch when in the vicinity”, with an offering that “seems to have something for everyone”. “It’s nothing exceptional in one sense, but a menu of properly prepared classics is the sort of thing that sounds easy but needs to be done well… and it is”.
Summary
This pavement brasserie, complete with outside seating in warmer months, is part of a well-situated hotel at the top of Marylebone Lane, near the High Street. The food is sometimes “variable”, but can be “very good”.
Summary
This “chic casual brasserie” – “in a very convenient Marylebone location” – rates well for its “fresh and seriously tasty food”. “Dining on the terrace on a sunny evening evokes a European brasserie where everything is done well” (although “prices are distinctly W1”).
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
