High marks again for this brave hipster outpost occupying one of the stalls in Tooting’s covered market, and where funky, seasonal, British small plates are served at the counter. Some diners found themselves “questioning some of the combinations”, but most judged results “very good”.

“Yummy” food from a short but “ever-changing menu” at this two-year-old pioneer has helped put Tooting Market on the foodie map. The focus is on British small plates, and it’s seasonal in more ways than one, so “you’ll need to wear warm clothes” in winter because “it’s under cover but still outside...”.

“You can eat at narrow tables with benches or perched at the bar” at this ‘British Kitchen’ in Tooting’s Broadway Market. “Market life goes on around you, which is amusing if not particularly comfortable” – the key draw is the consistently well-rated selection of small plates.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
