For a top breakfast or brunch, a good number of Balham residents still tip their favourite Antipodean café as the best way to go locally; no bookings, you just rock up (and expect to queue at the weekend).
“Delicious food… as long as you don’t mind queuing on weekends” continues to win many votes for this Antipodean café which is world famous down Balham way as a “fabulous breakfast and brunch” destination.
“The best breakfast in town”, with “great staples and specials that deliver on flavour”, has earned cult status for this Antipodean café in Balham, now branching into evening service. “You have to pick your times to get a seat”, though – “my absolute favourite place to be at 10.30am on a Saturday morning; unfortunately, I’m not the only one...”. A cynical minority do loathe the place though: “it’s masquerading as some sort of high-end funky elite dining experience” for “wannabe hipsters”.
“Hands-down the best breakfast in SW London” (“you need to get there early because this is no secret”) is to be found at this kickass Antipodean joint in Balham, which (recently expanding) now has “an alcohol license and plans for evening openings”. “Amazing flat whites” and other coffee too, but “avoid the yummy mummy post-school-drop-off rush”. Top Menu Tip – the Convict and Young Betty.
