“The best ramen in London – such a rich, meaty broth with just the right amount of fatty unctuousness” – is served at this franchise of a Japanese-owned brand, with branches in the West End and now Angel. The “nice, slurpy noodles” are “a firm favourite, great for cold days, hangovers, comfort food”, and come with a small selection of side dishes and rice.

“The best ramen in London” (“the pork broth is wonderful – there’s nought better on a cold day, when it really hits the spot”) scores nothing but high praise for this small Japanese noodle chain with bars in Soho, Covent Garden and now also in Islington. Top tip – look for the “Burford eggs done just enough with a slightly runny yolk” and “don’t miss the truffle ramen, which is absolutely the best!”

“Delicious ramen, unsurpassed in London” (“the broth is clearly a labour of love, so rich and silky”) is the verdict on these “authentic” outposts of a noodle chain, based in Japan: “no wonder there’s always a queue out the door!”. Top Tip – “the eggs are also amazing – order an extra one to add to your bowl”.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
