"Four of us ate here last night. We had an excellent meal. The menu is diverse but we chose well. The hummus was tasty and the deliciously crispy flat bread reminded me of the fried bread I had when I was young! Small olives were really full of flavour. The crab and Burford brown egg (a real nod to egg quality here) was tasty with more of that flat bread. Yum. Our friends onion soup was not insipid as some can be but intense and served in sweet retro china soup bowls. The flat iron steak was outstanding. Cooked rare/medium rare it was a very generous portion with lots of crispy chips which were quickly devoured. Our friend's cod and cauliflower main courses were positively scored although I suspect Phil is more meat and fish than veggie. Finally the pear tarte tatin was outstanding. Crispy puff pastry and lovely pieces of unctuous pear. The amazing thing is the pricing. The steak was £17.50 whilst Sunday's roast beef lunch with that Tarte Tatin is under £20. A bargain. I also want to go back to try the buttermilk chicken burger. I suspect it's Phil's secret weapon!"
