A success story spelled out in noodles, Tonkotsu is to open its tenth London site. The latest ramen restaurant will launch in Peckham in September, and will join Forza Win’s new wine bar at a new Market development.
Harden's survey result
“The broth is so incredibly thick and creamy, and this combined with the very generous servings make for a very good quick eat” at these cramped ramen pit-stops serving “noodles… more noodles… and some side dishes for those not wanting noodles”. “As it’s just a place for sustenance, you go with the flow, but staff are friendly and helpful”.
Fans still hail “the most amazing ramen outside Japan!” at these cramped noodle stops, but for doubters they “were so good, but are more average now”. A fair middle view is they are “quick and cheap, with a nice ambience”.
“Deservedly popular for a good slurp”, say fans of these “cramped and buzzy” noodle stops, who praise “broths that are things of beauty”. Critics on the other hand “don’t understand the hype” – they feel it’s “passable when hungry” but “nothing more”.
“Delicious hot and warming bowls of noodles” are the mainstay of these cramped bars in Soho, and now in Bankside, Haggerston and Hackney Central too; there’s some dispute however as to whether they’re “taking ramen to a new level”, or are merely “fine”.
