Limited but positive feedback for this duo of South-African-owned venues in Farringdon and London Bridge. The appeal at both is straightforward: simple fare, majoring in steaks from the Surrey Hills, are matched with excellent SA wines (picked from a visit to the walk-in cellar), and – if you still have space – cheese from the special walk-in cheese room.

“There’s no better place to try South African wine – from cheap ’n’ cheerful to exceptional vintages” – than at this duo of SA-owned City wine bars, with walk-in cellars for your deliberation. The Saffa-inspired food is “fairly hearty” (steaks are a good bet), with a shout-out to the “brilliant cheese room” in each venue.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
