Breaking news

March 2021: until April 10, within the Flat Iron Square site in Southwark, the Bar Duoro team are launching Roulote, a takeaway-only pop-up serving Portuguese sandwiches such as bifana and octopus rolls on Fridays and Saturdays. (A mobile van will continue the Roulote operation once lockdown eases.)

With its “authentic Portuguese small plates” and “fab list of Portuguese wines”, this small blue-and-white-tiled bar near Borough Market “manages, unbelievably, to bring something new to London”. It’s “a bit hard to find” in the new Flat Iron Square food development – “but worth the search”.

“A wonderful additional to London” in Bankside’s new Flat Iron Square, whose pretty blue-and-white tiled interior with “all bar seating” (“the stools are a bit uncomfortable”) help make it akin to a Portuguese Barrafina – from your perch you get “a theatrical view of the immaculate assembly of brilliant small dishes, served with broad smiles”.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
