Summary
Tiny Canonbury fixture, with “a small but perfectly formed menu” of ambitious modern European dishes, prepared in an open kitchen – “wonderful, well-flavoured, light cooking”, from “the amazing roast potatoes to the soups and everything in between”.

Tiny Canonbury fixture, with “a small but perfectly formed menu” of ambitious modern European dishes, prepared in an open kitchen – “wonderful, well-flavoured, light cooking”, from “the amazing roast potatoes to the soups and everything in between”.
Summary
“Beautifully presented, interesting and well-cooked” modern dishes of a high level of ambition justify the trip to this Canonbury two-year-old at the ‘wrong’ end of the Essex Road. But it loses some points for “close tables”, “small portions” and “high prices given the location”.
Summary
“Worth the trip to the fringes of Islington”, says (a Hammersmith-based) fan of this quite ambitious yearling, at the wrong end of the Essex Road – “the people couldn’t be nicer”, it has a “great vibe” and its Nordic-influenced modern cuisine is consistently highly rated.

Salut Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Watch out for the exclamation mark! It is a precursor to what follows. Starters these days tend to start in double digits and for these sort of prices you would expect something special. When a plate of essentially cold veg can outshine a very delicate crab dish then you know you are in for a rollercoaster of a ride. Crab and avocado under seasoned and not a hint of chilli on the sparse chilli croutons, the only thing being that the dish looked pretty. Charred Turnip and salted hazelnuts were the star of the other starter yet for a hefty £11 did not deliver much in value terms. Things were greatly improved when a bottle of Puglian Sud Del Sud arrived. This rich dark red cracker of a wine went with everything we had. Well what can we say about the mains! Yes that exclamation mark again. Pretty much forgettable in that the cockles with wild cod were more empty cockle shells with cod. The parsley crust looked like the 18th green at Wentworth with next to zero flavour of parsley. I wonder what happened. The unexpected highlight was a generous bowl of roast potatoes at £5 to you geezer thank you very much. Cold desserts left us with the cheese as our only option. And this was probably the highlight of the whole evening. If it wasn’t for the Eat Out campaign then this whole experience would have been too overpriced. In the end it was just !!!!!"
