Summary
“Just as much a political statement as a meal”, this “low-waste, little venue” in Shoreditch is co-owned by Doug McMaster of Brighton’s acclaimed zero-waste restaurant Silo, and a similar eco-friendly approach is showcased here. “It serves up a series of challenging plates of principally foraged food from a fixed multi-course menu, alongside cocktails that fall a little outside the usual comfort zone”, and wins consistently high ratings (albeit from a relatively small fanclub). Summary
Feedback is limited but impressed by this offbeat Shoreditch newcomer – a collaboration between Ryan Chetiyawardana and chef Doug McMaster of Brighton’s acclaimed zero-waste restaurant Silo, and with a similarly eco-zealous approach. A multi-course tasting menu is served from a tiny open kitchen in an “intimate” room with a counter and yellow leather banquette seating. The Sunday Times’s Marina O’Loughlin left intellectually exhilarated but hungry: our reporters describe “one of the most innovative meals in a long time” – “thoughtful, sensitive, sometimes genius food served by passionate staff” and “a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours over a tasting menu”.
