Now moved to Ludgate Hill from the Paternoster Square perch that originally provided its name, this D&D London restaurant is a “decent and safe option” – although a more upbeat description has it “doing what the City enjoys, with high levels of testosterone and impressive steaks”. “Swarming with suits” – it’s a natural for business entertaining.

Punters are often drawn to this D&D London operation because of its association with TV show ‘First Dates’, for which it was famously the location. Originally it was conceived by the group as a classic City steakhouse kind of place, but has never really made waves in that department. Still, the odd report says it’s a “useful” option in the area (although, note, if you haven’t visited for a little while, it’s moved – it’s no longer overlooking St Paul’s from Paternoster Square and is now on Ludgate Hill).

A dependable steak remains the menu highlight at this D&D London grill, but some regulars are “disappointed that it has moved location (from Paternoster Square to Ludgate Hill) and is no longer overlooking St Paul’s”. Oddly for a restaurant catering to City business diners, the previous venue became famous for hosting reality TV show ‘First Dates’.

This City-based grill overlooking St Paul's Cathedral, from D&D London, is pitched firmly at the location’s business diners – but it does have a romantic side, as the location for seven years of ‘reality’ TV show First Dates, starring maître d’ extraordinaire Fred Sirieix, with actors playing the parts of waiting and bar staff.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
