“Super-fresh” food, including “especially good starters and mezze”, “friendly service” and “very good value for money” are the hallmarks of this “very good Turkish chain in the City”. There’s also a “large range of vegetarian dishes”. The six branches are all heaving at lunchtime, but “St Paul’s is the most spacious, in a great setting near the cathedral and much quieter too, especially at the weekends”.

“Exceedingly large portions of simple, fresh and tasty Turkish food” draw a busy lunchtime crowd to this group of six restaurants within a mile or two of each other in the City. “The meat especially is good quality”, while social distancing has had its compensations: “tables were further apart, which made for easier conversation”.

“Straightforward Turkish food at a relatively sensible price (for the Square Mile)” is the simple proposition at this “useful” and well-established small chain. They get pretty “packed and noisy at lunchtime with a boisterous City clientele”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Packed with screeching Xmas parties. Only offered the set menu - borek was fine but the “mezze” was heavily bulked out with bread and tabouleh. The waitress didn’t really know how to serve wine (whole bottle poured out among 4 in one go with no offer to taste, and with hilariously unequal allocations) but the lamb shish was actually good. "
