Opening in 2025 at the top of the City's tallest tower, 22 Bishopsgate, a branch of Gordon Ramsay's Asian-inspired restaurant, with a bar and rooftop terrace. The site will also incorporate a 14-seat chef's counter spin-off from his Chelsea flagship, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, and a branch of his casual Bread Street Kitchen.

“All the makings of a fun restaurant!” are – say supporters – to be found at Gordon Ramsay’s spectacular pan-Asian destinations, whose original (on Grosvenor Square) was followed up in February 2025 with the launch of a stablemate on the 60th floor of 22 Bishopsgate in the City, for which Gordo is seeking a 24-hour licence (and also by a sibling in Manchester). It’s the City newcomer nowadays that inspires most interest in our survey, and fans love the “beautiful food… cocktails… room” and of course “the amazing views”. Even they can note “service that’s a little hit and miss” though, and predictably there are many who feel “you’re taking a second mortgage for the view”. Meanwhile, the Mayfair branch is notably less well-rated and often judged “overpriced” or plain “disappointing” on account of its “very average food”.

Gordon Ramsay’s pan-Asian brand is now a group, with the Mayfair original followed by branches in Manchester and (scheduled for an early 2025 opening) on the 22nd storey of the City’s tallest tower, 22 Bishopsgate. Habitual poor ratings have risen a notch this year, amid praise for “a great atmosphere, with service and food to match” – so perhaps standards have risen. But even broadly positive reporters point out that “the food is underwhelming for the price”“the problem is that there are better Asian-inspired restaurants in central London at better prices”.

For 35 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"The first impressions aren't great as there are various queues to join (security, second security, lifts) in dull spaces before you get to the restaurant. Tried to get a drink at the bar, as we were told we had to wait for our table to be ready, but failed as service there is a bit haphazard, but that's probably because it is very busy. But service was not great throughout the meal and waiters needed to be hailed like cabs as they rushed past avoiding contact. The food itself I really enjoyed, and the prices weren't as high as I expected. The bao buns were perfect in taste and touch, the prawns were delicious and the sticky chicken really tasty. The rest of it was good too. I can't think of a dish I didn't like. The views are great, even at the inner tables (which we were on) and the sunset was striking. All-in-all, a better experience than I expected but please sort the service and it'll be a serious restaurant not just a tourist attraction."

"A late lunch with friends. Food was rather disappointing this time and service was ok but not very welcoming. We had a 2pm reservation and were not taken to our table until 2:30 and almost felt like we were a bit of an inconvenience for the staff. If you do not want people at that time don’t take the booking. The view is still fabulous even in the rain. "
